    Hi Pamela,
Glad to hear from you. You didn’t leave your email address, so hopefully you’ll check back here and get this response. Yes, we certainly can use some volunteer help and will in the future as well. Are you local in Seattle? What attracted you to our project? What kind of volunteer work would you like to do? Do you have any specific skills you would like to use? Feel free to email me directly at ornal@aol.com, or, write a comment in the blog again, either way I’ll get it and respond to you shortly. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again for your interest in our project!
    Best wishes,
    Orna.

    Dear Lori and David,
Thank you so much for your pledge of $100 to our new school. I am sorry to say that we are not set up for Pay Pal yet… I apologize for the inconvenience. Is it possible for you to send a check to Ellis’ address? The address is 8813 31st Ave. SW, Seattle, WA 98126. Please make the check out to Tathagat Welfare Trust. We are still in process of trying to arrange for an online donation service. We are grateful for your generosity and for believing in our project! It means a lot to us.
If sending a check is not possible, please let us know and we will think of another solution.
    Blessings and thanks,

    Orna.

It is unfortunate that this project had to be suspended. I wonder if you could direct me to where I might find more information on the issues leading to the decision. Was it purely a funding issue, or were there other obstacles standing in the way?

Interested in learning for the future,
    Katie

      Hello Katie,
Sorry for the very late reply. To your question, the reasons for the suspension of this project had more to do with our difficulties establishing a straight forward communication system and a transparent way of keeping track of funds received and spent, than with fundraising. Having no representative there to actually work with the people and ensure that the funds are spent in the best interest of the children, coupled with a great cultural and language gap, meant we could never really reach a point of establishing a strong relational foundation for the work we were hoping to do. It was after trying and hoping for a long time that we finally decided to give up. Thanks for your interest.
      Orna.

Thanks Orna. I hope that your work towards social justice continues in spite of this project meeting its end. Good luck.
